Knowing God
1- How do I do that?
No matter how good a life we try to live, we still fall short of being perfect. That's because we are all sinners. Being a sinner means that we do not measure up to God’s perfect standard of righteousness. The Bible says:

“There is no one righteous, not even one.” (Romans 3:10)

So what can we do?

2- Recognize that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins.
God's word tells us that the penalty for sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

But instead of giving that death penalty to us, Jesus suffered death in our place so that we might be forgiven by God. The Bible tells us that “God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” (Romans 5:8).

This is the Gospel - a word that means "Good News." God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die in our place when we least deserved it. All He requires of us is repentance & belief.

3- Repent of your sins and go the other way.
The Bible tells us: “Repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away” (Acts 3:19)

The word "repent" means to change direction in life. Instead of running from God we can run toward Him. When we confess our sins to Him and repent we are agreeing with God that we need His grace and forgiveness in our lives.

4- Receive Jesus Christ into your life.
You don't become a Christian simply by going to church or believing a religious creed. It is having Jesus Himself take up residence in your life and heart.

Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in . . .” (Revelation 3:20).

If you would like to have a relationship with Jesus that includes being forgiven for your sins, simply pray this prayer and mean it from your heart:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. Right now I turn from my sins and open to You the door of my heart and life. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. Amen."

5- Did you pray this prayer either as written or in your own words? Would like to talk or email someone about what comes next? We're here to help you and support you. Welcome to the family of God!
